About the Weekend

LLANWDDYN WEEKEND OF FOLK & ACOUSTIC MUSIC

 1st and 2nd September 2017

Get it in your diary so you dont forget. If you are not camping and need accommodation, then get yourself booked in as we dont have much accommodation around here so they do get booked up quickly!

2017 line up is set. It will be our 5th Birthday too and hope we have chosen well to help you celebrate with us.

2016 Festival was fantastic and we had an absolute ball, despite all the challenges that were thrown at us! and for those who came along you will know exactly what we mean!!

Who would have thought such a tiny village tucked away in the middle of a very rural area in Powys could be so successful in running a music event like this.. Yes we are only a small festival and have no intention of making it any bigger, but its reputation has grown to the point that for the last 4 years we have completely sold out. A testimony to all involved we say!

We would like to say we know what we are doing now, but in all honesty we don't!  We just know how to have a great time and help others have a great time too,  at as cheap a price as we can, to ensure most people can afford a cracking musical weekend away.

We have a great team of people..not just the committee and a wealth of volunteers we get from around Llanwddyn and further afield. All mixed up together makes it a fabulous environment and we have all become firm friends over the years.

It may be the only time we see some, but its like it was yesterday when we reunite.  Of course we couldn't do without these extra people and thank them all from the bottom of our hearts and festival boots for supporting us each year.

Then of course we have our ticket holders, some of which have supported the festival since it began. We look forward to seeing you all each year, and get a genuine buzz when your ticket applications pop through the letter box once more, bringing back lots of fond, fun memories from previous year associated with each returnee.  Likewise this year we have had many applications that have come from people who have had the festival recommended to them.

Thank you, thank you,  thank you for sticking with us.We truly look forward to seeing you all again in 2017 - download the ticket application form here or visit the tickets page for information on Bacs payments and all the other stuff you need to know

Not bad for something that was only supposed to happen for the one year!

Go well until then..

From all the team !

NEW TO THE FESTIVAL?

For those of you who are and about to have your first experience with us. Our little festival is..well.. little, but with BIG thinking.
We have a great team of people who all want to make sure everyone has a great time. We hope we pick a selection of music to suit the cross section of artists available to us on the folk and acoustic scene.  There is so much out there to choose from !

On arrival in Llanwddyn, take a minute or two to soak up the scenery and feel yourself relax.....then when the ticket office opens (from 4pm) claim your wrist band and prepare to enjoy your weekend to the full.

The weekend starts on the Friday night with a foot stomping, whizzing  Ceilidh night in our main hall and music sessions in the bar for those wanting a breather from all that dancing.. Friday includes a lovely welcoming supper too. This is included in your ticket price for all weekend ticket holders. Download your ticket application

Saturday we allow you to rise gently and kick start the day off with a sing-around in the bar from 11:00am(ish) up until 12:30pm. The main concerts then start at 1:00pm and go through to 4pm. Each artist will play something like a 40 to 50 minute spot.

At 4:15pm we run the sing-around in the bar again until the evening concerts start at 7:00pm. The concerts run from then until close at around 11:00pm. The session may well start up again in the bar afterwards until throwing out time.

If you fancy having a go in the sing-around yourself, there will be a names list available on the info desk from Friday. Pop your bame on the list and leave the rest to us. We'll have someone organising the Saturday sing-around who will try and fit everyone in. But dont leave it too late to include yourself as its very popular.

Sunday morning we run a Sunday morning sing in the church of St Wddyns and encourage every to come and fill the church with voices.

We run a craft fair all day Saturday too. Right next to the concert venue and we have around 20 stalls for you to spend your pennies on. Always popular, filled with the work of many talented people and NO tat!

Camping is available, but check our camping details first, as its basic and you might prefer to book at a proper campsite. Although you would have to drive from one of those they are not too far away.

Food is available all weekend. Your supper on Friday night included of course. Saturday we run an 'in house' cafe, a BBQ and we have a village shop where you can buy supplies to make your own meals if you're on a budget. The bar is open from Friday at 6pm until late and again on Saturday from 11:00am through to around 11:00pm.

So... there you go...
